Dear Community Members

Welcome to the First Website of the Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre. You will find all the information about our organisation and activities in the Upper Blue Mountains; similar to our quarterly newsletter, BANC News, which gets delivered to your home every three months. Please take your time and browse to the pages. We hope that you will find some useful information. If you would like to give feedback on our website please contact us and specifically ask for Adam Barber, who has done a tremendous job in designing and putting together this website. Thank you Adam!

From the BANC Vault

After a mild winter we had a very rainy start of spring, what a blessing… Hopefully we will get through the summer without any bushfires and with plenty of rain.

BANC is very excited to acknowledge the success of the new “Just Walk It” group meeting weekly under the walk leadership of master athlete and local resident Judy Kenyon. Some 30 health conscious community members are getting fitter whilst socialising. We are planning to start a second group on Tuesday afternoons, keep your eyes and ears open!

We would like to welcome two new groups meeting now regularly at BANC: 1) The Squiggles, a group of new artists learning and developing their artistic skills. Come and join them on Monday mornings. 2) Gentle Stretches for Seniors: On Wednesday mornings you are welcome to join the group and participate in physical activities ideal for seniors.

Have you seen our new community notice board in front of the Old Post Office? You can approach the key holders - the Blackheath & District Chamber of Commerce, BMCC or BANC - if you would like to put up any information.

We would like to take this opportunity to announce our Annual General Meeting, which is scheduled for the Monday evening on the 23rd October. Everybody is welcome to attend and learn about our organisation’s progress over the last year.

Our Manager of the past two years left us in August to pursue other endeavours. As the BANC Team we would like to acknowledge the work she has done. We will continue to provide quality services to our community. BANC will always have an open door for anyone, any idea or any request.

Your BANC Team.
